TVNZ+ EVENT PASS TERMS AND CONDITIONS


TVNZ offers a variety of content via TVNZ+. Some content is only available for a fee and to access it you will need the applicable TVNZ+ Event Pass. These terms set out below apply to your access to and use of TVNZ+ Event Pass as well as our House Rules and Privacy Policy (together, the Terms).

Please read the Terms carefully before you get started. If you use our paid content services, including TVNZ+ Event Pass, then you agree to the Terms.

TVNZ+ Event Pass services

1. The TVNZ+ Event Pass service allows you to unlock access to paid content to be streamed over the internet to compatible devices on a live and/or on-demand basis in accordance with these Terms. Check your device here.

2. Each TVNZ+ Event Pass is available on a pay-per-view or pay-per-event basis for a one-off up-front payment (Event Fee).

3. We may include some advertising as part of the TVNZ+ Event Pass.

4. We will provide TVNZ+ Event Pass to you with reasonable care and skill including that we will try to restore any interruption as soon as we reasonably can but we do not guarantee that the service will be;

a) continuously available or free from faults or interruptions, or that we can correct faults or errors;
b) available at your location;
c) or of a high streaming quality.

5. At times the quality of services we deliver and you receive will be outside our control including because:

a) TVNZ relies on other providers (e.g. electricity, internet, delivery of live content to us); and
b) You rely on other providers for receipt of our services (e.g. your internet provider, connection, electricity, and the device you are using).

6. You agree to the Terms and any specific rules for each TVNZ+ Event Pass published by us at the time of purchasing a TVNZ+ Event Pass (including those here). We may change our services and content offered under TVNZ+ Event Pass and these TVNZ+ Event Pass Terms and Conditions from time to time including withdrawing services and content. If the changes are detrimental to you and you have already paid the Event Fee for your TVNZ+ Event Pass and the event has not occurred, then we will tell you and you can get a refund.

7. We may cancel all or part of your TVNZ+ Event Pass if we no longer have the right to make the content available to you or we have reasonable grounds to believe you are in breach of these Terms.

Your account

8. To access and purchase any TVNZ+ Event Pass you must have a TVNZ+ Account, or an adult profile on a TVNZ+ Account. All profiles for users aged 13+ (and that are not Kids profiles) can access a TVNZ+ Event Pass once purchased. TVNZ+ Accounts are only for use in your household and you must not share your TVNZ+ Account details for anyone else to access your TVNZ+ Event Pass.

9. You must be located in New Zealand and only access the service from New Zealand.

10. You must be 13 or older to purchase a TVNZ+ Event Pass but not all content is suitable or available for all ages. If you are between the ages of 13 and 16, and the TVNZ+ Event Pass you want to buy is suitable for your age, you must have approval from your parent or guardian and they must agree to these Terms.

11. You must keep your contact information up to date so we can give you any notifications required.

12. If you delete your TVNZ+ Account then you will immediately lose access to your TVNZ+ Event Pass and your Event Fee is not refundable.

Payment and refunds

13. To access the service for each TVNZ+ Event Pass we offer, you must sign up for the relevant TVNZ+ Event Pass and pay the applicable Event fee in full up front. If you are not the cardholder, you must have their consent to make the payment. You will need to provide your credit or debit card details to our payment provider as part of paying the Event fee.

14. You can access your selected TVNZ+ Event Pass content once you have paid the applicable Event Fee.

15. We do not provide refunds for a change of mind for TVNZ+ Event Pass purchases.

Event Rules

16. What is included in, and any special terms for, each TVNZ+ Event Pass offer is described at tvnz.co.nz/passes. For some Events, some content related to or included in the Event Pass will also be available free on a TVNZ channel and/or on TVNZ+.

17. If there are no special terms, then the following default rules apply:

a) You may only stream to two compatible devices per Account at any time;
b) If we receive the applicable content in high definition from our provider we will make it available to you in high definition. Whether you can view in high definition depends on your device and your internet connection;
c) The content available in each TVNZ+ Event Pass will in line with our rights.

Special offers

18. Any special offer relating to TVNZ+ Event Pass (e.g. discount codes) are subject to the terms on which they are offered and the following default rules unless otherwise stated. Each special offer:

a) can only be used at the time of purchase;
b) is not available in conjunction with any other offer or discount;
c) can only be used once;
d) is not transferable once applied to your account;
e) will expire at the end of the event to which it relates; and
f) is subject to our reasonable discretion as to your eligibility to prevent abuse or circumvention of the offer terms.

Liability

19. You will comply with these Terms, applicable laws, and not breach our rights or any third party’s rights when using a TVNZ+ Event Pass. If you breach these Terms (or we have reasonable grounds to believe you have breached these Terms) or abuse our staff, we may immediately suspend or terminate your TVNZ+ Account and/or TVNZ+ Event Pass and we are not obliged to refund your Event Fee.

20. We are not liable for any event outside our reasonable control but we will keep you reasonably informed about such an event and take reasonable steps to keep performing our services to you.

21. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986. Except for liability under those Acts, if you are liable to us or we are liable to you in connection with these Terms for any reason, neither of us will have to pay the other the Event Fee except for any breach of the Intellectual Property section of the House Rules.

22. If you acquire a TVNZ+ Event Pass for the purposes of a business, you agree that the provisions of the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 do not apply. For completeness, TVNZ+ Event Pass is not for commercial use except under a commercial licence.

23. This agreement (the Terms) is for TVNZ and for the benefit of our TVNZ+ Event Pass providers including service and infrastructure providers and our content providers. None of our third party providers or their related companies have any liability to you for failures connected to TVNZ+ Event Pass. You agree that this clause creates a benefit for those third parties that is enforceable by them under the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017.

General terms

24. If any part of these Terms is found to be unfair or unenforceable, then that part will be modified so as to be fair or enforceable (as the case may be), or if modification is not reasonably possible then it will be treated as deleted from these Terms, and the rest of these Terms will continue to operate.

25. These Terms are governed by New Zealand law.

Special terms – FIFA World Cup 2026™

  • Where we experience any widespread serious technical difficulties preventing access to live matches via your TVNZ+ Event Pass, or widespread technical difficulties causing sustained and serious loss of quality of live matches via your TVNZ+ Event Pass, we may make the match available free-to-view on TVNZ+.  

  • Where we experience any widespread serious technical difficulties preventing access to live matches via TVNZ+ (including TVNZ+ Event Pass), or widespread technical difficulties causing sustained and serious loss of quality of live matches via TVNZ+ (including TVNZ+ Event Pass), we may make the match available free-to-view on TVNZ Channels (TVNZ 2, TVNZ DUKE, or DUKE+1) which you can access through Freeview and Sky.
